Bookkeeper & Billing Specialist

Location: New York Adirondack/North Country Region. Remote work is acceptable with reporting to Saranac Lake Office on a regular cadence.

About Northern Power & Light:

Northern Power & Light is a family-owned, renewable energy company based in Saranac Lake. The company is currently seeking qualified candidates to support and execute a summer outreach campaign to enroll customers in a new Community Hydro project.

Renewable energy is a rapidly evolving space that relies heavily on data processing and management – where are all those renewable kilowatt hours going, and how are they valued differently than other kilowatt hours?

The Role

The billing specialist will own and refine the process of generating monthly bills, reports, and reconciling accounts. For Candidates with data engineering experience, this is an opportunity to work with other developers in rebuilding NP&L’s back end.

This is a remote part-time position with regular in-person meetings at our Saranac Lake office.

Responsibilities include:

• Generating monthly bills
• Reconciling payment processor batches
• Refining accounting best practices
• Light customer service, such as fielding a customer email or call with billing questions.

Requirements:

• 3+ Years’ experience as a bookkeeper or equivalent experience in accounts receivable
• Must pass a background check
• Proficiency with Excel and QuickBooks Online
• This is a remote, part-time position, but candidates should reside in the North Country/Adirondack region and be able to travel to Saranac Lake and/or Canton Potsdam for regular in-person meetings and events.

Employment Type: Part Time

Compensation: $25k-$35k annually

Benefits: As this is a part-time position (1099), we cannot offer traditional benefits. However, some of the perks of working for NP&L include flexible hours, our WFH policy, and 2 weeks paid time off.
