NP&L would like to thank everyone who contributed to our effort to produce and distribute hand sanitizer in response to critical shortages due to Covid 19. In late March, NP&L teamed up with Mountain Spirit Distilling in Plattsburgh to produce a locally made product following a World Health Organization recipe. We distributed thousands of bottles of free sanitizer to medical and emergency staff, as well as dozens of essential businesses throughout the region. We are proud to have played a small part in fighting the spread of Covid 19, with about 500,000 hand cleanings!

We are still accepting last requests from essential workers, and our product will continue to be available for a limited time at the Potsdam Food Co-Op and Village Mercantile in Saranac Lake. The remaining stock of bottles is being donated to ADK Action to include in their Emergency Food Packages of local produce for families in need.

Emergency Food Packages

One great way our community can help those in urgent need as a result of COVID-19, is by contributing to AdkAction's Emergency Food Package initiative. A $55 donation funds an entire package containing one week's worth of healthy meals for local families.

Make Your Own!

The World Health Organization recipe that we used to make our product is easy to follow, and can be made using either isopropyl alcohol or high-proof ethanol. Some local liquor stores, including High Peaks Wine & Spirits in Saranac Lake, have begun stocking 190 proof grain neutral spirits for this purpose.
